What is involved with a typical treatment?

The procedure is performed in the office. There is no need for anesthesia whether general or local, meaning no painful numbing shots. The sore area over the heel will be located and mapped out. A ultrasonic transmission gel is applied to the foot. Next the shockwave hand piece is position gently over and near the area and shocks are applied to the affected area. The intensity of the shockwaves start out at a comfortable low-level and the energy is gradually increased as tolerated with the patient's feedback. Once 2000 to 3000 shocks have been applied the treatment session is completed. Once completed, you are able to walk out of the office and resume normal non-stressful activities as directed by your physician.

There are no side effects but some patients may experience a short period of slight tingling or numbness after their treatment. Most patients will notice improvement after the 1st treatment but overall healing continues for 3 months after the last treatment. Anywhere from 1 to 7 treatments may be required for full healing.

Computer injection therapy is a revolutionary system providing a virtually pain-free approach to providing local anesthesia( getting numb).  the computer delivers precise flow rates under control, approximately one drop every 2 seconds which ensures the delivery of the local anesthetic is below the patient's threshold of pain.  This results in a much less burning sensation from the medication which is the primary cause of pain and discomfort. a vast majority of patients feel less pressure and pain as compared to the outdated hundred and 50-year-old syringe technique.  although no system is completely pain-free, computerized injection therapy allows numbing to occur with the least amount of discomfort possible.
